(More customer reviews)I have the Natural Gas "NG" version of this. I learned more than I anticipated needing to, on my quest for the perfect tankless water heater. The Bosch 800 series was my perfect model.
While it is now obvious to me why this model is head and shoulders above anything else, you may need to spend some time learning about tankless water heaters to see why it is so significant.
1) Ultra efficient, it has 92% efficiency. Only the top of the line models are this efficient. This means lower yearly costs.
2) Powerful: 10 gpm! This puppy can power most houses that have mutiple showers and sinks. It is their highest flow unit. It can also be daisy chained so another unit can be attached.
3) 15 year PRO warranty. Instead of the 5 year or 10 year of other models.
4) New Technology. This is the only Bosch unit to have the technology to create this efficiency and the cooling benefits.
5) Reliable. Even though it is cutting edge, some of its parts are based on the 715 unit that is very reliable.
6) Easy repair. Bosch has one of the most extensive list of certified repairmen. Also, unlike other companies, most of the parts can be replaced and are easily available, due to its popularity.
8) Low heat. This model has 2 condensers. That is why it is more efficient. The added benefit is that the heat coming out of this is like a hair dryer. Much MUCH cooler than most units.
9) PVC pipe can be used. I dont know of ANY other water heater that can be vented with PVC pipe. That means smaller pipes, easier work, and much cheaper. Normally water heaters need galvanized vent or Stainless steel venting which is extremely expensive. It can easily cost $300 or more.
10) Concentric Venting (one hole). Because the exhaust is so cool, you can use a Concentric Vent to combine both intake and exhaust from one hole (wall or roof). Without this a water heater need TWO 3 or 4 inch in diameter holes, at least 3 feet from each other. So the extremely hot exaust does not get used in the intake and overheat the unit.

I am just a consumer. I am not a guy that fixes these, nor do am I associated with a company that sells them. I just wanted a tankless & researched like crazy. Rheem, Takagi, and Rinnai were other companies who make products I considered.

(More customer reviews)I was somewhat skeptical about tank-less electric but I knew very well tank-less gas heaters from Europe where tank-less technology is used for over 50 years by now. Also, some companies put specs according to their agenda but then in practical use those do not perform. To my surprise I am very pleased with this Chronomite product - all is right on the button and no misleading. Unit is simple, small, very HD and absolutely marvelous. I replaced huge tank heater, run water from the tank to this unit, total cost of adapters was about 30 bucks, all available from local hardware store. I live in Central Florida, but it is winter now, so I get cold water at about 55 to 65 degrees. Unit is heating it very well, on kitchen faucet I get 125 which is 15 degrees more then before, and shower is only slightly less then what it was but only in flow, approximately 95% of flow from standard tank heater yet with water remaining at original 110 max. Consider that in Florida water pipes are embedded in concrete floor (yes, the plumbers job security it is, no kidding), and there is very little if any wrap on pipes to prevent heat loss. I the nut shell: I am very happy with this unit, even if it takes 40A from "former" tank fuse. It appears also that Chronomite heaters have very good soft start contact solenoids and there is no power blinking or EMF distortions present when unit goes on. Now, if you want to be real efficient, you may consider 120V 20A unit under the sink in the kitchen to give you hot water in about 5 seconds, then 240V 20A unit next to washing machine and 40A 240V unit for shower use. Consider those heaters have water flow restriction but if you place them accordingly you will never know those are there. The match is not that complicated and all it takes is common sense and either you can install it or get plumber to do it because no house is the same like another. Please remember also and I can not stress this enough: I do have degree in electronic engineering so I know this stuff but regardless of what can or cannot be done I have to comply with safety requirement regulations and National Electrical Code standards. Please do not improvise, because it is not safe to jazz specs and hope for the best. Now on the shiny side - if you have electric tank-less heaters set right in your house, watch your electric bill drop by 50% more or less. Not to mention that besides saving your money you also save our great nations resources and now you can get that 52 inch LCD LED TV you wanted all with clear conscience and no regrets. There is also funny side to this - electric tank-less are endless, which means you can have hot water in the shower even if someone took 3 hour shower, so if you have teenage daughters, they will be most grateful and no more fights about who run the hot water tank down.

I purchased this product from The Home Depot when I purchased and installed a new water heater. As usual, the sharkbite (Cash Acme) fitting was s breeze to install. However, approximatively 6 months from the time of installation, we started noticing black pieces of rubber coming from the hot water in the bath tub while giving our kids baths. I thought the valve seal washers were going out, so I replaced them, but they were good. Traced the problem back to the hot water tank and eventually found that the rubber lining inside the sharkbite hot water heater line was deteriorating. I went back to the Depot and had a look at the shartbite hot water heater line and compared it to the other threaded by threaded braided lines. The sharkbite was lined with black rubber just like you'd find in a garden hose. No way suitable for extended potable hot water service. The other threaded by threaded line was poly lined (white polyethylene).
Below are a couple links to pictures I took of the failed sharkbike fitting. This is really surprising that they'd build this product like this. I've used sharkbite fittings on several occasions and have had nothing but good things to say. But this time, Cash Acme got it wrong. This product is defective and needs to be pulled from the shelves and a new lining needs to be designed and installed on future products.

The unit stopped working and a coil melted through the plastic. Customer service (800-277-8401) was called and they express shipped a new unit. Very friendly, great service. Hopefully the second unit will not fail.

(More customer reviews)It finally got cold enough to try this out. So far, it seems to work very well. Temperatures have been in the 20s and 30s and it keeps a 12" circle of water ice-free. The birds have definitely been taking advantage of it.
It mentions this in the description, but I missed it initially, so I just thought I would reiterate that this heater is thermostatically controlled, so it only turns on when necessary. That's nice, as thermostatic plugs cost twenty bucks or more.
[UPDATE]
My circuit breaker tripped and the birdbath water froze. When I turned it back on, the heater thawed its way out of a solid block of ice at 5 degrees F. I'd say that it works pretty well!

When you have a bad water heater one doesn't need delays like this.
I know it's not fair to give a one star to Bradford white but I did not see how to review the seller.
