(More customer reviews)I got this heating cable to use in an off-grid chicken coop to keep the water pipe from freezing. The heating cable appears to be a quality product, but it doesn't work with the rechargeable power supply I bought to use with it because the power supply is inadequate for the task. I have not, therefore, had a chance to evaluate the actual performance of the heating cable but it looks like a much higher quality cable than other heating cables I have purchased in the past.

(More customer reviews)Purchased to use with the water hose on our fifth wheel trailer when we had to spend a period of time in freezing weather, this heat tape not only kept our water supply flowing, it produced enough heat to slightly warm the water. Normally we would have purchased a shorter length for campground use but we were parked a distance from a water supply making a longer heat tape necessary. It worked very well when used with foam insulation tubing and we would consider buying a shorter length for use when staying at campgrounds during short spells of cold snaps.

(More customer reviews)I have the electric tape on a copper plumbing fixture. It is installed in a way that is even more thorough than the instructions suggest. It still did not keep a valve from splitting, and the temperatures were not below 20 for more than a few hours. I may try to use the tape again when I rebuild the copper fixture, but I will be using much more of it, and reinforcing the electric tape with foam insulation.

(More customer reviews)I have a 110-year-old house with a flat roof. It's a beautiful old row house in the city. The problem with a flat roof -- as everyone knows -- is a lack of drainage. In wintertime, the area around the downspout collects water during the day when the sun is out and the surface (at least) freezes when the sun goes down. That causes a back-up of water and leaking down the interior walls. NOT A GOOD THING!!! This "heater" cable keeps things just warm enough to keep the water flowing down the spout and out of the house. It has a thermostat control which means it only uses electricity when the temperature dips below a certain level.
