PLEASE READ:There is no industry standard for Unions. The various brands have their own unique style, which means you must use the unions provided with our spa pump. This will most likely involve cutting off your old unions and installing the new ones shipped with the spa pump.If your heater is directly coupled to the spa wet end, then our pump will probably not work as the union will most likely be different. Be sure to look at the motor voltage, not the voltage supplied to the spa to determine the correct pump voltage.When removing power cord from existing pump we recommend you mark your wires for "common", "High speed", "low speed".The pump does not come with a power cord. The connection diagram for the new pump is located on the motor name plate.The wet ends can be rotated by simply loosening the motor thru bolts and turning the pump head, allowing the discharge to point to 3 O'clock, 9 O'clock or 6 O'clock.Not Self Priming - Water must be above pump head in order to operate properly. 1.5" refers to the size of your PVC plumbing supply lines. It has nothing to do with the size of the union nuts, the size of the threads on the wet end or the inside diamater of the inlet/outlet. The PVC pipe slides into the union and is glued with PVC cement. 1.5" plumbing means you have 1.5" schedule 40 PVC supply lines (1.5" I.D.; 1 7/8" O.D. on the line)circumference = 6.5" (wrap a tape measure around the pipe). Now there is warm water instantly and hot water is just seconds behind. It has been extremely nice this winter, avoiding freezing water from the tap.
Cheaper recirculating pumps utilize a a plastic valve under the sink that will wear out and need replacement. The body of the valve in this pump is brass and looks like it will last for a very long time.

(More customer reviews)I've had one of these for well over a year. Originally put it in my basement next to the water heater. We had had problems with water in the past (water softener issues, some rain seepage, etc) but we managed to repair those problems. Never heard anything from my little Leakfrog until a couple of nights ago.
In the middle of the night, I heard beeping coming from somewhere. It was enough to wake both me and my dog. Mind you, my bedroom is on the second floor, and the Leakfrog is in the basement. So it's plenty loud.
Finally figured out that it was the Leakfrog coming from the basement. The flexible water line going from the water supply to the water heater had started leaking. I doubt it had been leaking for more than an hour or so; there was only a small wet spot on the floor. So I shut off the valve to the heater and went back to bed. 10 hours and $10 in replacement parts later, it was fixed. Mind you, in those 10 hours, the water on the floor had completely dried, that's how little water it took to activate the alarm.
Had I not had the Leakfrog, it could have been weeks (and possibly causing substantial damage to the water heater or other items in the basement) before I would have noticed the leak. I highly recommend this for anyone that has a potential for leakage that could possibly go unnoticed.

As my condo hot water heater is common to the entire wing, I made sure when purchasing this 4 gallon water heater that I could plumb the "hot" water into the "cold" intake of the water heater, and thus boost my "hot" water coming into my kitchen to a proper temperature for my sink, dishwasher, and front-load washer. To me it is so very well worth cleaning and servicing the unit every six months to have the luxury or proper hot water in my kitchen, and to know that when the condo hot water is on the fritz, I have hot water for my sink and appliances anyway. (More customer reviews)Installed this pump in three steps. First, installed a 115-volt outlet under the sink that was farthest from the water heater, a distance of about 50 feet. There were three other sinks and two showers all hooked to the hot water pipe that ran between this farthest sink and the water heater. Second, I insulated the hot water pipes leading from the water heater to this farthest sink. Most of these hot water pipes were located in a suspended ceiling. If the pipes were in a wall, I ignored trying to insulate them, figuring the wall was enough insulation. Third, I installed the pump under the sink. I set the timer to operate whenever I plan on using hot water in any of the sinks (i.e., 0600-2400). I have had the pump installed for about a year and appreciate it every day. When the water at the sink cools to 85 degrees, the pump cycles "on." When the water temperature reaches 95 degrees at the sink, the pump cycles "off." The water from the hot water side gets pumped to the cold water side so that the cold water is about 90 degrees, but that water cools rapidly. When the cold water faucet is turned "on," the cooler water quickly gets to the faucet. This pump is perfect for my needs.

In terms of product per dollar, this is tops for anyone with high calcium and high electric water use. I would bet if you cleaned it once every 2 years, it would last forever. Dont forget to vacuum out the crud on your tanks bottom at the same time. Often the lower element is operating in a mass of calcite.Okay, Disappointment: One of these burned out in just 3 months or less. Looks like their MFG' process is poorer than their promises and ideas. I'll report back if they honor the warranty.
Okay update: this seller will not honor the lifetime warranty. Said to call the MFG. The MFG. which is Camco, says True value stores must handle warranty issues and then get a credit from them, they will not deal with the end user. But this Rons hardware just does not care and will not intervene or offer a replacement or credit - I supose its too much work for them to get a cresit from their supplier, so its easier to just screw me.
All in all, a bad event with Camco and with the seller. Avoid them all.

(More customer reviews)I've been staying with some folks for a while and noticed that they manually emptied their dehumidfier daily. They've been doing it for 8 years!
I installed this pump in no time and they'll never have to empty it again!
This pump works great. Very basic, but it does the job nicely. It makes very little noise. Turns on / off smoothly and quietly. Pumps for a few seconds to clear out the basin and then goes back to rest until it fills again.
The pump does not come with either inbound or outbound tubing / hose, so you will need to buy them separately.
Also, I found the instructions a bit skimpy and less clear than they could have been. You just need to read it closely and do a bit of fiddling to get it to work properly.
As elsewhere mentioned in these reviews, a key thing is to ensure that the water / condensate source (i.e., the dehumidifier or AC unit) is higher than the Little Giant pump. This allows the water to flow easily 'downhill' into the Little Giant basin.
In my case, this required putting the dehumidifier about 8" up on a box, then fiddling with the hose to ensure it flowed cleaning downhill to the pump.

Watts 500800 Premier Hot Water Recirculation Pump, Blue Review

(More customer reviews)I don't know why few stores carry this and few people are aware of this great product, including those sales persons in home improvement stores. It gives instant warm water to all the rooms in your house, it saves 10,000 gallons water a year (really, I measured and calculated) and it is so easy to install.
Doubt about if it really works? Try this: go to the farthest faucet in your house and open the hot water. Once the water becomes hot, close it, but not fully, leaving a very small stream. Now go to other faucets and open hot water, you bet, instant hot water! It'll keep this way as long as you keep that small stream flowing.
The problem is that small stream goes wasted. How about recycle it into the hot water heater? Sure, but how? The hot and cold water lines have the same pressure, therefore water cannot go from the hot line into the cold line. What if I add a pump into the hot line? Exactly, that's what this Watts product does. Problem solved.
For a practical and fine product, Watts also add a temperature sensor, so the recirculation only happens when the hot line becomes not so warm. This, plus the stream is really small, adds very small extra energy cost to the heater.
The pump is very small, only 25 watts, using less electricity than a lighting bulb. There is also a 24-hr timer (in 15-minutes increments), allowing you to shut the entire system off during the periods when you do not use warm water, such as sleep and work times. This reduces even further the already very small added energy cost. BTW, the pump is thoroughly quiet, no audible noise at all.
An alternative product is the Laing Autocirc. It is a single piece can all be installed under a sink, could be a better choice for some people. The downside is you need (to add) a AC socket there to power the pump. The upside is the pump does not operate continuously like the Watts; it is controlled by the temperature sensor and thus turns on only when water becomes not so warm. Might save some more Watts than the Watts. Both are available in Home Depot stores.
I cannot think of a single reason not to install such a system into any house. Instant hot water without any side effect or significantly added extra energy cost and saving tons of water each and every year. I wish I have done this long ago and this product will be more widely spread.
PS, a tip: before you start the installation, go to Rite Aid or alike store and buy a pack of Hose Washers for [标签:Content].99 (e.g. Plumb Craft by Waxman, 74-114, 6 pieces). After you unplugged the hose from the heater and before you plug it to the pump, you should remove the old washer and use 1 or, if the old one is very thick, 2 of the new washers (I had to use 2). The old washer was usually hardened by the high temperature; if you don't replace it, it will leak water. The menu does not mention this, so I learned this the hard way. BTW, hey Watts: for a $200 product, such washers should have been included.
