(More customer reviews)It took a little longer to get than expected, but after using it the wait was worth it. I have done several test on the controller at room temp. 72'F Yellow charging light is on until battery voltage hits 14.35 volts, then the green fully charged light comes on and the battery stops charging until the battery reaches 13.25 volts then it starts charging again. AMP loss going through controller is only .02 amp's and that makes this a great controller. It has a connector for 12 volt load that shuts off at 11 volts and turns back on at 12 volts, I don't use the load connector, I have a power invertor hooked directly to the battery that shuts off at 11 volts although I never let the battery get that low because it's hard on the battery when you have 4-5 cloudy days in a row. Even deep cycle batteries will go bad if they sit around discharged. I bought the Allstar ALL76232 universal 2 wire connector to hook up the controller too the battery and a 50 watt solar panel.

(More customer reviews)This is the simplest and cheapest device to easily enable connection of a generator to your house (short of just disconnecting the wires and attaching them directly to your generator--not really recommended in the panic of the moment in a power outage). It is used on one circuit only--a 15 amp one. The obvious circuit to use it on is for your furnace (forced air or, like me, hot-water radiators). If you have a long power outage in the winter, you can run your furnace from time to time to prevent the house from freezing.
I plan to use as a "generator" a 12 volt power inverter. This generates 120 volts from my car battery. If you get a big enough one (maybe 300 or 1000 watts max) it will sustain the brief initial "transient" surge of power needed to get an electric motor going. The actual power needed after than initial surge is pretty low. It is probably best to run the car's engine while doing this, at least for that initial transient, so as to be sure to have full power. This method worked on my old furnace and I expect it to work on my new one.
With a power inverter one can avoid the hassle, expense, smell, gasoline-storage hazard, and pollution of a gasoline generator that one almost never needs to use.
The instructions assume you will be connecting this switch to your main fuse box. But I found that it's more convenient to connect it on the line leading to your furnace--a method shown in illustration on the box but not detailed in the instructions. Use great care to be sure to wire it up correctly.

I only have 5 panels installed now
I'm located about 20 miles south of Boston, MA
My pool was 55 degrees 5 days before Memorial Day
On Memorial day the pool was 76 degrees
Today the pool was right around 88 degrees
I have the panels setup in 2 systems
1st 2 panels are connected to the pool pump & filter & can be easily bypassed
I can also divert the water into a hot tub, which is also solar heated
The next 3 panels are setup with a seperate pump ~500gph
Each set is on a different side of the pool
This maximixes the solar heat thru the day
These systems are very easy to setup & connect
I've hads mine running since 2005...free heat every year
Longer swimming season & more comfortable
I have 2 hot tubs that are solar heated
The one by the pool I usually divert water from the pool to keep it below 98
Extra water/heat goes to the pool
The 2nd tub is by the house & tops out at 110 if I run it all day
I only run it for a few hours every other day now
I bought several sets off EBAY -$125 for (2) 2'x20' panels
I have an inground pool, these are labeled for above ground
But they work just fine....don't pay extra for the "inground" panels

(More customer reviews)I got this thermostat to use with a Mr. Heater 45,000 BTU gas heater from Northern Tool. The thermostat that was offered as an accessory with the heater had a range of 50-90 degrees. I want my garage just above freezing most of the time. I'll turn it up when working in it. The Honeywell Low Temperature Garage thermostat is good match for my heater. I've found it makes a big difference on how much the heater runs with the thermostat set at 35 or 50, so this thermostat will save a lot of gas. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the temperature scale is in a kind of compromise location between the thermometer needle and the temperature setting lever, and doesn't quite make sense with either of them.

(More customer reviews)There's good news and bad news. I bought this unit as a training unit to check out the technology and have a good extra hob on hand for times when we strain our kitchen resources. The intent is to eventually equip our kitchen with an induction cooktop for energy efficiency.
The good news is that the technology works as advertised. It's remarkably quick and has plenty of power despite running off a normal power outlet. The bad news is that on this unit the heating element (if that is the correct terminology) is only about 7 to 8 inches across. It worked fine when we made soups, though we did notice that only the middle boiled or simmered. However, when frying, the limitation of the element size became a problem. We used a lodge 12" cast iron skillet to fry fish. The center of the pan put a beautiful tan on the panko, but the outside of the pan was relatively cool, requiring that each piece of fish be flipped to four positions before it was properly cooked.
We tested the unit by wetting the bottom of a cold pan and watching how it dried. The center bubbled and dried, but the outer bottom was only warm to the touch. I thought perhaps it was defective, but other reviewers have commented on the problem.
I notice that most of the units on the market do not specify the size of the heating element. Whether this exposes a problem with the technology or is just marketing avoiding a problem with inexpensive units I can't tell.
I am hopeful of the technology, but returned this unit because of it's limitations. If you only use smaller pans, or rarely, if ever, fry, I recommend it.
As has been mentioned before the first unit arrived broken.
